For some of us the battle has been severe. There has been much, much bloodshed, much heartache. And as a result the stench from past seasons have lingered…. anger, bitterness, hatred, revenge. It lingers within the compartments of our hearts… it is what we breathe out into the atmosphere. However, the Lord desires our wholeness…. healing … beauty to spring forth from those very areas. I will not deny the intensity of the past and how it has left us wounded. Yet, I hear the Lord beckoning to His wounded… longing to tenderly touch each area of pain. Longing to breathe into the embers of our very beings, restoring life… I am reminded of Mary and Martha. Martha was so distraught about what she thought she should be doing… where she thought her focus should lie, how she thought she could please Jesus. Mary simply bathed in the goodness of the Lord… soaking in the radiance of her communion with Him. And the Lord said that what Mary was doing was a good thing. Sometimes I think we need to slow down a bit and begin to soak in the goodness of God… allowing Him to touch those wounded places within us…. not trying for anything, not trying to please Him or anyone, not working toward anything, not trying to figure something out. Just simply being… being in deep communion with Him….allowing Him to minister to us. In this place, our bitterness will turn to tenderness. Those hard, rough edges will spring forth with calm, peaceful compassion. The Lord reminded me of this verse the other day:
2 Corinthians 2:14 But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.
He then gave me a picture of a reed diffuser…. those are cool. They soak up whatever fragrance you have in the bottle and diffuses the sweet aroma into the atmosphere. Beloved, let the Lord heal you and create you to be His reed that diffuses the fragrance of Himself into the atmosphere. Forget the hustle, forget trying, and simply soak up the goodness of your God. He loves you.
